Pink Promises

Diamond has always been the gem of choice for engagement rings in the last 80 years. Thanks to De Beers, a diamond is not only forever, it is also a great marketing success. But with high profile engagements and weddings (think Charles-Diana and, most recently, William-Kate), other gemstones have been given due credit as symbols of everlasting love. Some have gone to the extent of personalizing their engagement rings.

And so when my sister's bf asked me to prepare his "promise ring" to her,  I knew it had to be in my sister's favorite color: Pink. The light pink tone of the Kunzite blended perfectly well with the intensity of the pink sapphires and diamonds. In pink gold.

A testament of love.  A promise in Pink.

He wears Emilia's

I spotted Kenneth Ong, a very talented graphic artist and Edge Davao's lifestyle columnist, wearing his original Vabene Pirati Watch when he went to the shop. I then asked him to pair it with our double lock Black Stingray bracelet. I think its a perfect combination.

Oh Angelina!

I fell in love with Angelina Jolie's huge Emerald earrings which she wore at the Academy Awards in 2010.  Who wouldn't, right?  After months of drooling on them, I finally made our version with diamonds and pearls in semi-antique design.

He wears Emilia's

Otoi Mercado, Mindanao's top makeup artist and stylist came by the shop to check on his girls. He loaned his Pullip doll collection to Emilia's-Abreeza for the Sophie et Sonia Collection preview. I was pleasantly surprised when he came proudly wearing our Stingray bangles. I took some pictures as he was fixing the girls and our display. Thank you for all your help and thank you Otoi for wearing Emilia's.

Pink Butterfly Brooch

My sister and I were in a dilemma on what to do with  a Marquis shaped Kunzite of over 50 carats (HUGE).  I initially wanted a ring or a bangle but she asked me not to rush. And I'm glad that she did. One afternoon, while discussing jewelry with a friend,  she took out the Kunzite, some rose cut pastels Natural Sapphires, Diamonds, Rubies and Blue Corundums. And voila!  A butterfly brooch was right before our eyes.  In no time, we set the stones in yellow gold. And the finish products is nothing less than magnificent.

Khaawp Khoon Kha! Thank You!

Although the special preview officially ends today, the challenges, preparations and the final outcome of the Sophie et Sonia Collection made everything worth it. This wouldn't have happened without all your inspiration and support. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to express ourselves in our jewelry and for finding your own little life stories in the collection we presented. I am sharing with you one of Sophie's drawings which became one of my greatest inspirations. In behalf of Sophie and Sonia, who continually inspires all of us to do our very best for all our client friends, we would like to say Thank You! Khaawp Khoon Kha!

Walang Hanggan

My family is hooked with the teleserye "Walang Hanggan." It is always a good reason to rush home after work. However, months before the teleserye went on air,  a client came to us and sat down with me and my sister about a pair of anniversary wedding rings. She wanted a ring which will symbolize her and her husband's unending love for each other. Since we know her personally, we knew what she meant. Their life story is comparable to a teleserye. Solomonic or not, my sister and I designed a pair of infinity rings in pink and white gold symbolizing not just infinity, but also the intertwining of their love and lives.

Pearl Embroidery Bangle, Town & Country March 2012

For its March 2012 edition, Town and Country Philippines features good friend Malouchi as one of Davao's (and the country's) most fascinating women. Team Otoi Mercado and Joan Lantaca did her makeup and hair respectively. Malouchi's wrist adorns our Pearl Embroidery Flexi Bangle.  We are both honored and proud.  Thank you Malouchi and thank you Town and Country.
